Elsie Geneva Goins Mabe

Mrs. Elsie Geneva Goins Mabe age 76 of King, widow of Roscoe Mabe, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Mrs. Mabe was born in Surry County on September 18, 1931 daughter of the late John Abe Goins and Mary Jane Berrier Goins, was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Stanleyville. Surviving is one daughter and a son-in-law, Kathleen and Gilbert Poplin of Winston-Salem; sisters, Louise Minton of Taylorsville, Yvonne Snow of Jacksonville, FL, Faye Tutterrow and Nelda Jean France both of Mount Airy and brothers, John (J.W.) Goins of Thomasville and Kenneth Goins of Mount Airy, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mabe was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Carol Mabe, one granddaughter, Rebecca Lynn Poplin; two sisters, Irene Adkins and Mary Margaret Goins Hodge and by two brothers, Cecil and Dale Goins. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, March 31, 2008 at First Baptist Church of Stanleyville conducted by Rev. Terry Rauch and Rev. Eddie Honeycutt. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 4:00-6:00 PM Sunday at Moody Funeral Home of Mt. Airy where her body will remain until taken to the church to lie in state one hour prior to the service.
