Elsie Scott Montgomery

Mrs. Elsie Scott Montgomery, 90, of 150 Hilda Drive, Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2008, at Golden Living Center-Surry Community. Mrs. Montgomery was born July 24, 1918, in Patrick County, VA, to the late Thomas Taylor and Ethel Hiatt Scott. She retired from Spencer's Inc. after 33 years of service and was a member of Paul's Creek Baptist Church. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Blaine and Kathleen Montgomery of Mount Airy and Conrad and Kathy Montgomery of Dandridge, TN; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Montgomery was preceded in death by her husband, James Elmer Montgomery; two sisters, Marie Rodriquez and Ina McMillian; and a brother, Carlie Scott. The funeral service will be held Friday, October 24, 2008, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Larry Jones, and burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions can be made to the Residents' Activity Fund at Golden Living Center-Surry Community, 542 Allred Mill Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
