Elsie Mae Dean Overby

Mrs. Elsie Mae Dean Overby, age 82, of Pilot Mountain, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2016 at her home. Mrs. Overby was born in Carroll County on May 17, 1933 to the late Dan Tate and Goldie Dean Ayers Chappell. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her companion of 47 years, Howard Tate; daughters, Sharon Overby, Judy Boyd, and Carloyn Overby; sons, Timmy Overby, and Roger Overby; twenty two grandchildren; a special grandchild, Jeffery Stewart; twenty three great grandchildren; a special great grandchild, Howard Dale Stewart; on great great grandchild. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Overby was preceded in death by two sons, James and Jerry Overby; a sister, Frankie Dean; brothers, Raymond Ayers and Troy Ayers. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Don Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Old Hollow Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:30 PM until time for the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. The family would like to give a special you to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice for the love and care given to their mother.
