Elva Bondurant Neal

Mrs. Elva Bondurant Neal, 95, passed away on Monday, July 26, 2021 at Village Care of King. She was born on June 21, 1926, in Patrick County, one of eleven children to the late Andrew Jackson and Joellen Scales Bondurant. During WWII, Elva and her sister Frances traveled to Newport News, Virginia to help with the ship building efforts. She was an elementary school teacher for many years in the Carroll County School District teaching for most of that time at Mount Bethel School. She was a very loving wife who faithfully took care of her husband Tom until the time of his passing in 1996. She had a great love for her friends, family, special nieces, and nephews as well as their families. During her life she was a faithful member of Haymore Baptist as well as Mt. Bethel Moravian Church. Left to cherish her memories are son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Melanie Neal; grandchildren Andrew and Holly Neal; sister, Gaye Robinson as well as several beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Neal was preceded in death by her husband Tom Neal; sisters, Lucy Sorensen, Mary Copeland, Ona Mae Puckett, Frances Puckett, Kathryn Jones; brothers, Bill, John, Joe, and Jim Bondurant. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 30, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with services conducted by Rev. Charles Fishel. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 30, 2021 from 1:30 PM until time for the service at the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses at Northern Regional Hospital and the patient care staff at the Woltz Hospice facility in Dobson.
