Elvira Bernard

Mrs. Elvira Julia Olson Bernard, 63, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday night, February 24, 2021, at Northern Regional Hospital.  Mrs. Bernard was born September 22, 1957, at Quonset Point Naval Air Station in Rhode Island, one of three children born to the late Wallace and Margaret Diangelo Olson.  She was formerly employed as a medical transcriptionist supervisor at Northern Regional Hospital.  Elvira is survived by her husband, Roger Joel Bernard of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Christine and James Turner of Tazewell, VA; a son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Lauren Jones of Chattanooga, TN; three grandchildren, Max Turner, Miles Turner, and Willow Turner, all of Tazewell, VA; a sister, Lorraine Olson of Norfolk, VA; and a brother, Russell Olson of Norfolk, VA.  The funeral service will be held Monday, March 1, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Dale Hawks officiating.  Burial will take place in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin, VA.  No formal visitation will be held.  Due to public health concerns, attendees are requested to wear a face mask and practice social distancing.
