Elwood Owens Montgomery

Mr. Elwood Owens Montgomery, age 63 of Mt. Airy, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and brother went to be with Lord on Saturday, September 20, 2008. Mr. Montgomery was born in Patrick County, September 18, 1945 to the late Irene Collins Bowman and Layton Montgomery. He was the owner and operator of Montgomery Auto Sales. Mr. Montgomery was a devout Christian and witness for the Lord and was of the Baptist Faith. Surviving are his loving wife, Cynthia Belton Montgomery of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Rusty Hawks of Mt. Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Teresa Montgomery of Mt. Airy; six grandchildren; Ricker Montgomery, Nichole Glass. Riley Montgomery, Matthew Glass, Tanner Butcher, Nicholas Montgomery, a great grandchild; Gabe Isiah Montgomery, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Eldene Noah and Lorraine and Wayne Sawyers all of Mt. Airy; and a brother and sister-in-law, Donnie and Reashea Montgomery of Conover. In addition to his parents, Mr. Montgomery was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Susan Montgomery. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at Highland Park Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Kirk Montgomery and Rev. Randy Edwards. Burial will follow in the Mount Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7-9 PM Tuesday at Highland Park Baptist Church and other times at the home of Ronald Montgomery at 285 Blue Bird Lane, Mt. Airy.
