Mr. Emil Weishaupt, 76, of 240 South Boyles Street, Pilot Mountain, passed away Sunday afternoon, December 16, 2012, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Weishaupt was born August 28, 1936, in Grayson, Saskatchewan, Canada, the son of the late John Henry and Olga Weishaupt, formerly of Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Darcy and Kelly Robinson of Vancouver, Canada; a son and daughter-in-law, Todd Stephen and Terri Weishaupt of Puyallup, WA; two grandchildren, Bria Robinson and Carson Robinson, both of Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada; a sister and brother-in-law, Jannette and John Crampton of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Charles "Chuck" and Isabelle Weishaupt of New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada, and Clarence Weishaupt of Spruce Grove, Alberta, Canada. Emil spent his first 56 years in Canada as a very successful businessman in the reinforcing steel industry, at first working for others and then owning his own company by the age of 25. Other than family and friends, Emil loved to spend his spare time on the golf course. He was on the Board of Directors of the Vancouver Golf and Country Club from 1980 to 1988. He eventually sold his business to an Ontario, Canada, based firm and retired and moved to the United States in June, 1992. At that time, he was then blessed to meet his significant other for the past 23 years, Foye W. Jessup from Mount Airy, which includes his extended family, a stepdaughter and her husband, Lisa and Johnny Purdy, along with a stepgrandson, Justin Purdy, and a step-great-grandson, Cutter Purdy; a stepson and his wife, Rodney and Sherry Jessup, along with stepgrandchildren, Kyler Jessup and Kinley Jessup. Emil was also fortunate enough to have many nieces, nephews, and cousins, both in Canada and the United States. Emil's passion for golf continued on to his United States roots and he was an active member and eventually on the Board of Directors of the Mount Airy Country Club. He will be missed by all, family, and friends alike. The funeral service will be held Thursday, December 20, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Dr. Jon Cawley and Mr. Gary Pruett officiating.
