Miss Emma Mae Scott, 79, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Miss Scott was born June 5, 1928, in Patrick County, VA, to the late Roby Hoston and Roxie Zina Hall Scott. She retired from Pine State Knitwear with more than 40 years of service. She loved working in her flowers and garden, was a staunch Democrat, always wanted to help others, and loved researching her family's history. Miss Scott was a member of Mount Bethel Moravian Church. She is survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Viola S. and Bobby L. Martin and Isabel S. and Senator Golding, all of Mount Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Patsy Ann Scott of Roanoke, VA; nieces, Cheryl M. Snow, Kathy L. Martin, Gail C. Miller, Thelma Gwynn, Ruth Gwynn, Beth S. Frank, and Kay Scott; nephews, Steve Martin, Ellery Golding, and John Scott; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, Miss Scott was preceded in death by two sisters, Mettie S. Gwynn and Lila S. Comer; two infant sisters; and a brother, Gilbert R. Scott. The funeral service will be held Friday, May 2, 2008, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Arlis Thomas, and burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday from 12:30 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
