Ernest Jackson Bobbitt

Mr. Ernest Jackson Bobbitt, 87, of Cana, VA, passed away Monday, November 17, 2008, at his home while surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Bobbitt was born November 14, 1921, in Carroll County, VA, to the late William Booge and Lela Hawks Bobbitt. He was a retired carpenter and a veteran of the United States Army-Air Force, having served our country during World War II. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Tavie Easter Bobbitt of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Joy Edwards Bobbitt of Cana, VA; two grandchildren and a spouse, Vickie and Jayme Dale Inman and Jamie Lee Bobbitt, all of Cana, VA; a great-grandson, Nicholas Inman of Cana, VA; a sister, Mazie Faith Ward of Lambsburg, VA; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Joe and Violet Bobbitt, Howard and Alma Bobbitt, and Romie Bobbitt, all of Lambsburg, VA; and four nieces. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bobbitt was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Maude Hash; four brothers, Sgt. Rufus Bobbitt, Edgar Bobbitt, Kyle Bobbitt, and James Bobbitt; and three half-brothers, Clayton Bobbitt, Cleve Bobbitt and Harve Bobbitt. A graveside service will held Wednesday, November 19, 2008, at 2:00 PM at Easter Family Cemetery. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Todd E. Byrd, and military honors will be conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. There will be no formal visitation. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Debra Matty for all her compassionate love and care shown to the family during this difficult time.
