Ernest "Ernie" Holt

Mr. Ernest Delmer “Ernie” Holt, 73, of Cana, VA passed away at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home Wednesday, June 13, 2018.  He was born January 17, 1945 to the late Oscar and Susie Mae Gammons Holt.  Mr. Holt was a loving husband, father, brother and friend.  He enjoyed playing guitar and singing with his wife, Rhonda at various churches.  Each day was started alongside his wife reading their Bible and doing their daily devotion.  Search A Word Puzzles were always at hand as a pass time; and he loved spending quality time with his great nephew, Hunter – his “little buddy”.  Mr. Holt was an avid fan of the Virginia Cavalier Basket Ball Team.  He is survived by his devoted wife, Rhonda Gayle Mayes Holt; his son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Tanya Holt; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sally and Archie Beverly, Mae Whitt, Esther and Ray Martin and Betty Spencer; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Wanda Holt and Ronnie and Mary Holt; several nieces and nephews; a special niece, Chasity Edwards; a special great nephew, Hunter Edwards; and many wonderful friends and family.  A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 15, 2018 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mac Cassell, Pastor Mark Williams and Pastor Chuck Edwards officiating.  A private interment will be at Sandy Ridge Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy, Friday from 10:00 AM until the time for the service.  The family has asked that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz, 945 Zephyr Rd., Dobson, NC 27030.  The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all their special friends, family and church family for the kindness, visits and prayers during Ernie’s sickness, and also a special thanks to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for the wonderful care given to Ernie and the assistance to the family.  Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
