Ernestine (Emma) Gwynn Boyd

Mrs. Ernestine “Emma” Gwynn Boyd age, 93, of Mt. Airy, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Sunday, January 31, 2021.  She was born in Carroll County, VA. on November 7, 1927 to the late General and Sarah McMillian Guynn.  She was retired from Spencer’s after many years of service. She was a precious mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother who will surely be missed by all who knew her. She was of the Baptist faith and loved the Lord with all her heart.  Left to cherish her memories are a daughter, Marie Hawks; sons and daughters-in-law, Bill Boyd Jr. and wife Linda, Troy Boyd and wife Kallie, Bobby Boyd and wife Melissa; grandchildren Willie Hawks, Monroe Hawks, Joey Hawks, Mike Hawks; six great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, step- grandchildren, Tim and Alisha Beck, Dennis and Sandy George, Christine and Willie Gwynn, Misty Freeman, Doug Vaughn as well as several step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Jonah Gwynn and Jay Gwynn as well as her special fury baby whom she loved so much, Rascal.  In addition to her parents Mrs. Boyd was preceded in death by her husband, William Bryant Boyd sr.; an Infant son and a grandson, Homer Hawks; son-in-law, Bill Hawks; sisters, Martha McMillian, Mary Haynes, Elsie Gwynn and Virginia Allen; brother, Joshua Gwynn.  There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home but for those wishing to pay their respects you may do from 9:00 AM until time to leave for the service on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.  A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February, 3, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Cana with services conducted by Rev.
