Ernestine Galyean

Mrs. Ernestine Harrison Galyean, 88, of Norfolk, VA, formerly of Mount Airy, passed away Friday, April 23, 2021, at Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, VA.  Mrs. Galyean was born June 10, 1932, in Surry County, the daughter of the late James Hugh and Etta Newman Harrison.  Ernestine retired from AT&T after 30 years of service.  She was past worthy matron of Norview Chapter #131 Order of the Eastern Star.  Left to cherish her memories is a son and daughter-in-law, David and Felicia Galyean of Chesapeake, VA.  Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, dear friends.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Galyean was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Eugene Galyean; and three sisters, Roxie, Dorothy, and Charlene.  A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 29, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Skyline Memory Gardens, with the Rev. Jonathan Doss officiating.  The family will receive friends Thursday from 9:30 until 10:30 AM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.  Due to public health concerns, attendees are requested to wear a face mask and practice social distancing.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Riverside Baptist Church, 5768 Sellger Drive, Norfolk, VA  23502; or a charity of the donor’s choice.  A memorial service will be held in Norfolk, VA, at a later date.
