Ernestine Phillips McCraw

Mrs. Elizabeth Ernestine Phillips McCraw, age 80 of Mt. Airy, N.C., widow of Mr. Jesse Franklin McCraw, passed away on Wednesday morning, March 7, 2018 at Brookdale Assisted Living of Eden, N.C. Mrs. McCraw was born in Carroll County, VA on August 17, 1937, daughter of the late Charlie Lee Phillips and Nerina Dalton Bolt. She was retired from retail sales and was of the Baptist Faith. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Dale Franklin McCraw and wife Ingrid of Eden, NC; two precious twin grandsons, whom she adored abundantly, Liam and Spencer McCraw of Eden, NC; five sisters, Frances Sumner, Judy Largen, Linda Snow, Shirley Vaughn, all of Mt. Airy, N.C. and Vickie Hall, of Cana, VA; a brother, James Lee Phillips, of White Plains, NC; and several nieces and nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. McCraw was preceded in death by her daughter, Sarah Elizabeth McCraw; a sister, Glenda Jo “JoJo” Senter; and a brother, Darrell Gray Phillips. A graveside service will be held on Saturday afternoon March 10, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Mt. Airy with the service being conducted by Rev. Joel Locklear. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6 to 8 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Hospice and Brookdale Assisted Living for all of the love and care shown to Mrs. McCraw during her illness.
