Essie Birty Hawks Cagle

Mrs. Essie Birty Hawks Cagle, age 94 of Mount Airy, passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at Central Continuing Care in Mount Airy.  Mrs. Cagle was born on August 10, 1927, in Carroll County, Virginia to the late Victor Monroe and Catherine Crotts Hawks.  Essie was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend.  She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.  Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Pauline Cagle; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bud Cagle and wife Katie, Rector Cagle and Linda, Ray Cagle; grandchildren, Adam Cagle, Scarlet Fogle, Jonathan Cagle, Tommy Cagle, Crystal Crotts, Tommy Cagle, Jody Inman, Shannon Cagle, Jason Cagle, April Cagle, Sherry Cagle, Joey Cagle, Eric Cagle, Scott Cagle; eight great-grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cagle was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Raymond Cagle; a daughter, Beverly Speas; two sons, Randy Cagle, Michael Cagle; three grandchildren, Shane Cagle, Jessica Cagle, Donnie Cagle; two sisters, Mary Goad, Maggie Cagle; and one brother, Sidney Hawks.  A family conducted memorial services will be held at a later date.  Moody Funeral Services is serving the family.
