Essie Lee Easter

Mrs. Essie Lee Carter Easter, 83, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday morning, August 7, 2019, at her home.  Mrs. Easter was born April 15, 1936, in Surry County, one of seven children born to the late Edward Arlo and Savannah Elizabeth Martin Carter.  Essie retired from Renfro Corporation after 38 years of service and was a member of Blue Ridge Baptist Church.  She is survived by a daughter, Eva Lee Easter of Cana, VA; a granddaughter, Shannon Lee Goins of Cana, VA; a sister, Helen Carter Easter of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Easter was preceded in death by her husband, Arlis Ray Easter; a daughter, Rita Easter Jarrell; a grandson, Johnny Wayne Jarrell, Jr.; an infant sister, Eva Mae Carter; and four brothers, Charlie Ray Carter, Billy Edward Carter, Johnny Howard Carter, and Clyde Lane Carter.  The funeral service will be held Saturday, August 10, 2019, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Randy Edwards officiating.  Burial will follow in the Mount Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
