Mrs. Essie Henson Kirkman Age 97 of 1287 Newsome St. Mt. Airy widow of Mr. Percy Abner Kirkman passed away Sunday August 26, 2007 at Central Continuing Care in Mt. Airy. Mrs. Kirkman was born July 21, 1910 in Randolph County to the late Gurney and Cordelia Allred Henson, she was a homemaker and member of The Shelton Church of the Brethren. Surviving are One son Ray Whitstine of King, five grandchildren Terri Leigh Whitstine of High Point, Mark Whitstine of Asheboro, Tammie Whitstine of Asheboro, Tracy Robinson of Canton and Melette Honeycutt of Lincolnton, six great grandchildren Eddie Dean Belton, Brandon Belton, Stephanie Honeycutt, Josh Whitstine, Chelsea Robinson and Damion Cox, three great grandchildren Gabriel Belton, Exavier Whitstine and Zephaniah Whitstine and a beloved daughter-in-law Gail Cox of Summerfield. In addition to her husband and parents Mrs. Kirkman was preceded in death by a daughter Jeanette Parks, three sons Terry Whitstine, Jimmy Whitstine and Bobby Whitstine, four sisters Violet White, Fannie Hopkins, Ruth Farlow and Mae Farlow, two brothers J. T. Henson and George Henson and by a daughter-in-law Colleen Whitstine. Funeral services will be held Wednesday August 29, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at the Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with services conducted by Rev. Hal Sonerfrank with burial to follow in the Kirkman Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday one hour before the service at Moody Funeral Home.
