Estelle Marie Wrede

Estelle, age 79 of Ararat, VA passed away at home, peacefully in her sleep, Dec. 2nd, 2019.  She was born August 17th,1940 in Ararat, VA  to Curtis Lee and Hattie Gurtis Hiatt Hiatt.  She is survived by her sister Bernice Walker of Morganton, NC.  Mrs. Wrede was preceded in death by her parents, husband John P. Wrede and siblings, Donald Hiatt, Mary Hiatt, Gilbert Hiatt and Franklin Hiatt.

She married career Army man John P. Wrede of Ohio and made a loving home, where ever Uncle Sam required.  She is survived by sons John Wrede Jr. (Kimberly) of Tacoma, WA., Dwayne Wrede (Sandra) of Billings, MT.  and Michael Wrede(Jean) of Waterford, PA.  Loved and adored by 15 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and so many people, it’s impossible to list them all here.  Her circle of life was wide and they know who they are.

She gave love freely.  A woman of many talents and interests with jobs ranging from real estate agent to sock factory worker and others, she enjoyed cooking, bingo, traveling, bowling, and coordinating events.  She was the glue for the family.   She volunteered countless hours for others in need including the Willis Gap Community Center and Blue Ridge Volunteer Rescue. Always doing fundraising where needed.  She loved a good meal, lots of laughter and visiting with just about anyone.  She looked at the world with the heart and eyes of a child.  We know she now has her reward in heaven.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday December 11, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Chestnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 5391 Willis Gap Road, Ararat, VA 24053 with services conducted by Rev. Arlis Thomas. Please join us after service for Celebration of Life get together potluck at Willis Gap community Center, 144 The Hollow Road, Ararat, VA 24053.
