Esther Burdick Hayes

Mrs. Esther Burdick Hayes, 79, loving wife of Mr. Johnnie J. Hayes of Dobson passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 4, 2008 at Elkin Healthcare. She was born in Santa Fe New Mexico on May 15, 1929 to the late John and Mary Burdick. Mrs. Hayes was retired from Eco Knit and attended Liberty Baptist Church. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 62 years, Johnnie J. Hayes of the home; a daughter, Brenda Thompson of Dobson; four grandchildren, Amie Watson Hall and husband Kevin of Dobson, Joe and Amy Thompson of White Plains, Brian Hayes of Mount Airy and Krista Hayes of Elkin; ten great-grandchildren and a sister, Rosemary Lucero of Albuquerque, New Mexico. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hayes was preceded in death a son, Gary W. Hayes. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday in the chapel of Moody-Davis funeral Home with Brother Barlow Stanley officiating and burial to follow in Dobson City Cemetery. The Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday June 5, 2008 at Moody-Davis Funeral Home of Dobson. Special thanks to the staff of Elkin Healthcare for the compassionate care given to Mrs. Hayes during her short stay there.
