Mrs. Ethel Mae Crouse Childress, 88, of Dobson, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2011, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. She was born April 5, 1922, in Surry County, to the late Jim and Mandy Crouse Crouse. She was a homemaker and a member of Ladonia Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Coster William Crouse; a son, Junior Ray Crouse; a daughter, Helen Flynt; and several brothers and sisters. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Braxton and Betty Jo Crouse of Boonville; five grandchildren, Debbie Mathies, Michael Wood, Jeff Wood, Michelle Crouse, and Greg Crouse; five great-grandchildren, Cory Wood, Lucas Mathies, Andrew Crouse, Carson Crouse, and Austin Crouse; and two sisters, Ruth Southern of Elkin and Clyde Moxley of Sparta. A graveside service will be held Sunday, March 27, 2011, at 3:00 PM at Ladonia Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Ricky Burcham officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday at Moody-Davis Funeral Home from 1:00 PM until the time to depart to the cemetery for the graveside service.
