Ethel Mae Love Gammons

Mrs. Ethel Mae Love Gammons, 89, of 215 Hilda Drive, Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2009, at her home. She was born September 30, 1920, in Surry County, to the late John Monroe and Mary Lee Deatherage Love. Mrs. Gammons was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a homemaker and a member and co-founder of Faith and Gospel Church. Surviving are a daughter, Lydia Horton of the home; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Gammons of Mount Airy; three grandchildren and their spouses, Joy and Rudy Leftwich of Cana, VA, Dale Gammons and April and Jamie Jarrell, all of Mount Airy; five great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Love and Clinnie Hall, both of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gammons was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. William Ed "Bill" Gammons; a son, Billy Rex Gammons; three sisters, Ruby Mills, Estelle Arrington, and Irene Gordon; and a brother, Bernie Love. The funeral service will be held Saturday, October 31, 2009, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Keith Love and the Rev. Buford Jessup officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
