Mrs. Ethel Mae Tesh Hall, 84, of Ararat, VA, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Hall was born March 4, 1925, to the late Oscar Jordan and Daisy Bell Copeland Tesh. She retired from Oakdale Knitting and was a member of Chestnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Hall is survived by a son, Benton Calvin "Benny" Hall, III of the home; three grandchildren and their spouses, Clinton David Hall, Jr. and Karen Hall of Colfax, Sherrie and David Pruitt of Dobson, and Mariah Hall of Ararat, VA; special daughters-in-law, Anna McMillian of Ararat, VA, and Ruby Hall Vernon of Cana, VA; great-grandchildren, Kate Hall, Timothy Pruitt, and Emily Pruitt; a brother and sister-in-law, Moorefield and Rachel Tesh of Mount Airy; a special niece, Mary Reynolds of Dobson; and several other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her husband, Benton Calvin Hall, Jr.; a son, Clinton David Hall; sisters, Elizabeth Tesh, Martha Moorefield, Daisy Tesh, Blanche Hawks, Pauline Burch, Betty Scott, Ruth Tesh, and Ida Tesh; and brothers, David Tesh, John Tesh, and Ray Tesh. The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 6, 2009, at 11:00 AM at Chestnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Arlis Thomas and the Rev. Dean Eaton officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, June 5, 2009, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes before the funeral service.
