Mrs. Ethel Mosley Nixon, 90, widow of Mr. John Wilson Nixon, of State Road went home to be with the Lord at her home on Wednesday November 5, 2008. She was born in Surry County on April 9, 1918 to the late Alonzo and Ella Fulk Mosley. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend and a dedicated member of Mountain Park Baptist Church. Survivors include her loving sons and daughters-in-law Rev. Russell and Elva Nixon of Thurmond, Roger and Barbara Jean Nixon of Boonville and Ralph and Carolyn Nixon of Yadkinville who devoted themselves to the care of their dear mother; two grandchildren Marty and wife Angela Nixon of State Road and Carrie and husband Todd Trivette of Yadkinville; three great-grandchildren, Zachary Nixon, Ashlyn Nixon and Callie Trivette; a sister Mary Vipperman of Mount Airy; a sister-in-law Frances Mosley of Mount Airy; several nieces and nephews; her caregiver, Diane Childress; special neighbors Dan and Juanita Pardue, and Dolly and Deborah Norman. In addition to her husband of 70 years and her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters Audrey Daniels, Opal Smith and Marie Gammons and three brothers, Wilbur, Ray and Paul Mosley. Her funeral service will be held at 3 pm on Sunday at Mountain Park Baptist Church by Dr. Carl Childs with burial to follow in Mountain Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Saturday at Moody-Davis Funeral Home where her body will remain until time to be carried to the church to lie-in-state thirty minutes prior to the funeral service. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Park Baptist Church 590 Thurmond Road Thurmond, NC 28683 or to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care 401 Technology Lane Suite 200 Mount Airy, NC 27030.
