Mrs. Etta Mae Inman Collins, 83, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2021, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Collins was born May 30, 1937, in Patrick County, VA, the daughter of the late Ernest and Hallie Lawson Inman. Etta worked at Spencer’s Inc. for 32 years and later retired from Bassett Furniture. She was a longtime and faithful member of Believers Baptist Church in Ararat, VA. She is survived by two daughters and three sons-in-law, June and Jason Randall of Oak Island, Bonnie and John Boles of Mount Airy, and Floyd Smith of Ararat, VA; a son, Gary Collins of Mount Airy; nine grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rachel Martin of Danville, VA, and Mabel Howell of Stuart, VA; a brother and sister-in-law, Junior and Carlene Inman of Claudville, VA; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Collins was preceded in death by her husband, Gilmer Troy Collins; a daughter, Betty Smith; a granddaughter, Jennifer Lewis; and a sister, Blanche Collins. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Believers Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dewayne Sands and the Rev. Daniel Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the church. Due to public health concerns, attendees are requested to wear a face mask and practice social distancing. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
