Mrs. Etta York Lundy, age 95 of Lowgap passed away at Golden Living Center in Mt. Airy, Saturday, October 13, 2007. Mrs. Lundy was born May 13, 1912 in Surry County to the late Willie Adam and Maude Golding York. She was retired from Surry County Schools System and was a homemaker. Mrs. Lundy is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Sam Hodges of Mt. Airy; sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Georgia Lundy of Mt. Airy, Joseph Kyle and Debbie Lundy of Flint, MI, Jerry Lundy of Lowgap; grandchildren, Gray Lundy, Judy Foster, Sherry Suttles, Tim Hodges, Kim Reynolds, Mark Lundy and Patty Abraham; step grandchildren, Christopher Hodges, Bridget Martin; sixteen great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Dorothy York; several nieces and nephew and a special friend, Amanda Draughn. In addition to her parents Mrs. Lundy was preceded in death by her husband, William Gwyn Lundy; sisters, Edna York, Edith Hodges; brothers, Ed and Earl York and a great grandson, Timmy Hodges. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy by Rev. Lester Bryant, Rev. Tony Holder and Rev. Todd Byrd with burial to follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her daughter at 124 Reid Flippen St. Mt. Airy. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Ln, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
