Eugene Haywood Booker

Mr. Eugene Haywood Booker age 82 of 148 Vine Street, Mount Airy, husband of Mary Loretta Journey Booker, passed away at Northern Hospital of Surry County on August 22, 2006. Mr. Booker was born in Surry County on July 15, 1924 son of the late Ed Booker and Arbell Jackson Booker and was retired from Bassett Furniture Company. Surviving are his wife, Mary Loretta Booker of the home; one step son Craig Griffith of the home; two step grandchildren, Brad Burton and Chris Thomas; three step great-grandchildren; one sister, Ossie Cooke of Mount Airy; one brother William "Bill" Booker of Mount Airy; one sister-in-law, Mae Booker of Mount Airy and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Booker was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Marshall and a brother, Jack Booker. Funeral services will be held on Friday August 25, 2006 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel. The service will be conducted by Dr. Rick Jackson with burial to follow in Skyline Memory Gardens with military honors conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2019 of Mount Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home on Thursday night from 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
