Eunice Frances Scott Jessup

Mrs. Eunice Frances Scott Jessup, 87, of 549 Jar Gap Lane, Ararat, VA, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2008, at her home. Mrs. Jessup was born March 18, 1920, in Surry County, to the late Samuel and Mattie Noah Scott. She retired from Proctor-Silex Inc. and attended Mount Airy Church of God. She is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Mary Jessup of the home, Ruth and Alvin Payne of Ararat, VA, Joyce Belton of Collinsville, VA, and Linda and Freddy Gray of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Cecil and Judy Jessup of Ararat, VA; eleven grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; two great-stepgrandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Angeline and Kenneth VanHoy of Jonesville; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Clarence and Frances Scott of Ararat, VA, and Glenn and Juanita Scott of Siloam. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jessup was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Calvert Jessup; two infant daughters, Betty Sue Jessup and Norma Jean Jessup; three sisters, Edith Flippin, Ethel Tilley, and Mabel Bishop; and three brothers, Lloyd Scott, Leonard Scott, and Frank Scott. The funeral service will be held Friday, January 11, 2008, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Buford Jessup and the Rev. Barry Foster, and burial will follow in the Jessup Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
