Mrs. Eunice Riddle Shaw, 94, of Mount Airy, died peacefully on Friday morning, March 22, 2013, at Twelve Oaks Assisted Living Facility. Mrs. Shaw was born March 7, 1919, in Surry County, the daughter of the late Yancey and Flora Simmons Riddle. She was a homemaker, retiree of Barber Hosiery Mill, and a member of Bannertown Baptist Church. Mrs. Shaw was a loving, devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lowanda and Mike Badgett of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Melissa Shaw of Mount Airy; a beloved grandson, Tyler Badgett of Charlotte; special nieces, Delories Goins of Mount Airy and Carol Benson of Hampstead; and loyal friends and caregivers, Frances Bryant and Alice Bowman of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shaw was preceded in death by her husband, James Irving Shaw; two sisters, Jessie Brannock and Mary Riddle; and four brothers, Willie Riddle, George Riddle, Calvin Riddle, and David "Buck" Riddle. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 24, 2013, from 1:00 until 3:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. There will be a private memorial service. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and compassion shown by the staff at Twelve Oaks Assisted Living Facility and Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
