Mrs. Eva Mae Bennett Briggs, 83, of Mount Airy, passed away early Friday morning, October 26, 2018, at Twelve Oaks Assisted Living Facility. Mrs. Briggs was born May 1, 1935, in Randolph County, the daughter of the late Grayden Bennett and Margaret Violet Young Bennett Skeen. Eva lived in High Point for many years and retired as a marketing representative from Sears. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Debbie and Bobby Post of Lowgap and Cathy Briggs of Randleman; three grandchildren, Michael Shipwash of High Point, John Skeen of Atlanta, GA, and Jessica Post of Lowgap; two great-grandchildren, Martesia Shipwash and Savannah Shipwash, both of High Point; a great-great-grandchild, Aydin Rich of High Point; a sister, Ginger Bennett Deckard of High Point; and a brother, R.J. Bennett of Greensboro. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Briggs was preceded in death by her husband, John Clarkson Briggs; and her stepfather, Leonard Skeen. A service of worship and celebration of Eva’s life will be held Saturday, November 17, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Deep River Friends Meeting in High Point. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is in charge of the cremation and respectfully serving the family.
