Eva Joy Lovill Caldwell

Mrs. Eva Joy Lovill Caldwell, 90, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday morning, January 5, 2018, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Caldwell was born December 28, 1927, in Surry County, one of two children born to the late John Robert and Sarah Secrest Lovill. Eva graduated from Mount Airy High School. She was a longtime member and former treasurer of First Presbyterian Church in Mount Airy. As a supporter of various community organizations, she volunteered countless hours with Northern Hospital Volunteer Program and the American Red Cross. Mrs. Caldwell was a charter member of Cross Creek Country Club and was an avid golfer with “The Lucky Dogs Group.” Eva was also a member of several local Bridge clubs. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Dorman Caudle of Advance; two sons and daughters-in-law, Fred and Libby Caldwell of Gainesville, GA, and Robert “Dozy” and Susan Caldwell of Evans, GA; three grandchildren, Amber Smith and her husband, Todd, Shane Marriott, and Drew Pell and his wife, Tracy; and six great-grandchildren, Trotter Smith, Ethan Smith, Austin Marriott, Katie Pell, Savana Pell, and McKenzie Pell. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Caldwell was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Robert M. Caldwell, Sr.; a daughter, Dink Fawcett; and a brother, Charles Lovill. A service of worship and celebration of Eva’s life will be held Monday, January 8, 2018, at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Griffin Gatewood and Dr. Paul N. Ridolfi officiating. A committal service for the family will be held at Skyline Memory Gardens Mausoleum prior to memorial service at the church. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and compassion shown by the staff at Ridgecrest Retirement Community. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church, P.O.
