Mrs. Eva Sue Hill Dockery, 82, of 656 South South Street, Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2009, at the home of her daughter. She was born November 30, 1926, in Surry County, to the late Ethel Hill. She retired from Cross Creek Apparel and was a member of Westside Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Mattie and Dale Gibson and Donna and the Rev. Steve Johnson, all of Ararat; two grandchildren and their spouses, Michele and Ben Hutchens of King and Chad and Tina Johnson of Ararat; six great-grandchildren, Grace Johnson, Olivia Johnson, and Chloe Johnson, all of Ararat, and Emma Rose Hutchens, Sophie Hutchens, and Eli Hutchens, all of King; two aunts, Myrtle Wagoner and Mary Beamer, both of Mount Airy; and a special cousin, Rachel Ramey of Winston-Salem. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at 1:00 PM at Westside Baptist Church, with the Rev. Steve Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Cross Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Westside Baptist Church. After the visitation, Mrs. Dockery will be carried back to Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where she will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions can be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
