Eva Mae Brown Simmons

Mrs. Eva May Brown Simmons, age 84 of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2022, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  Mrs. Simmons was born on January 27, 1938, in Surry County to the late Boyd and Hattie Hawks Brown.  She was a loving mother, sister and friend who will be dearly missed by all who loved her.  Mrs. Simmons loved to cook, can and prepare meals for her family and church.  She was a devoted member of Amazing Grace Baptist Church.  Mrs. Simmons is survived by her daughters, Barbara Hornaday and Sharon Bullins; her sister and brother-in-law, Emma and Sonny Hodges; six grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wesley Simmons; and a son Charles Wesley Simmons, Jr.  A funeral service was held Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Amazing Grace Baptist Church.  Dr. Jonathan Barker and Reverend Scotty Bullins officiated the service.  Burial immediately followed the service in the church cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Amazing Grace Baptist Church, 1053 Blevins Store Road, Mount Airy, North Carolina 27030.  Moody Funeral Service served the Simmons family.
