Mrs. Evangeline Lawson Tickle, 77, of 1476 Edgewood Drive, Mount Airy, wife of the late Floyd F. Tickle, passed away Friday night, February 26, 2010, at her home. Mrs. Tickle was born March 23, 1932, in Surry County, to the late Walter C.R. Lawson and Bertha Eaton Lawson. She was retired from Renfro Corporation and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, David J. Joyce and Carol Lynne Southern Joyce of Mount Airy; a step-grandson, Bradley J. Kopp of Mount Airy; a step-great-granddaughter, Katelyn M. Kopp of Cedar City, Utah; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Joan Ferndell "Fern" Calloway of King and Frances and Riley Collins of Pilot Mountain; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Wallace Lawson of Rural Hall, Delmar "Tip" and Shelby Lawson of Walkertown, and Walter "Junior" Lawson of Ararat, NC; a host of special nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Edith Mitchell. In addition to her parents and husband Mrs. Tickle was preceded in death by a sister Gladys Lawson. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held at Midkiff Cemetery with services conducted by Brother Don Collins at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030. Family and friends will be received at the home of the son and daughter-in-law, David and Carol Joyce, 111 Orchard View Drive, Mount Airy.
