Evelyn "Erline" Harris

Mrs. Evelyn “Erline” Nichols Harris, 84 of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at her home. Mrs. Harris was born on August 27, 1937 in Surry County to the late Dee Richard and Alma Williamson Nichols. Erline will be deeply missed by all that knew her. Erline spent nearly forty years working in the telephone and cablevision industries. She had worked at Centel, Northern Regional Hospital’s switchboard, and Surry Communications (formerly Surry Telephone), where she retired after 19 years of service. Left to cherish her memories are a sister and brother-in-law, Delene Hamm and husband Scott; a niece, Michelle Paul and husband, Robert; a nephew, Zach Marion and wife Beth; two great nieces, Grace Paul, Isabella Paul; two great nephews, Jasper Paul, Wyatt Marion; along with several beloved cousins and longtime coworkers. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by her husband., Charlie B. Harris. A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021 11:00 AM at Oakdale Cemetery at with Rev. Ralph Sproles officiating. Mrs. Harris along with her family wish to express special thanks to the many friends, family, neighbors, and caretakers that provided such good care for her during her long illness.
