Mrs. Evelyn Beatrice Caudle Nowlin, 78, of Mount Airy, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, from her home, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Nowlin was born August 31, 1938, in Surry County, the daughter of the late William Raynor and Beatrice Wagoner Caudle. Evelyn was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, who will be dearly missed by all that knew her. Surviving are her daughter, Suzanne Simmons; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Mark Barbour, David and Regina Barbour, and Jerry and Sandi Nowlin; ten grandchildren, Seth Tyler Simmons, Samuel Evan Simmons, Ryan Austin Simmons, Reece William Barbour, Bailey Rae Barbour, Davi Suzanne Barbour, Tyrus Harley Barbour, Alek Caudle Barbour, Jarrod Clay and Andrea Nowlin, and Matthew Ryan and Kim Nowlin; five great-grandchildren, Madison Kirkman, Branson Kirkman, Brooklyn Paige Nowlin, Brody Ryan Nowlin, and Tyson Clay Nowlin; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jo Ann Surratt, Glenda and Ralph Gough, and Bill Belton; a brother and sister-in-law, William R. “Bill” and Frankie Caudle; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ken and Barbara Nowlin; thirteen nieces and nephews, Cindy Belton, Johnny Surratt, Randy Surratt, Richard Surratt, Julie Surratt Davis, Dwight Tickle, Chuck Tickle, Todd Gough, Kim Turney, Sandra Campbell, Susan Leonard, Phillip Caudle, and Andy Caudle; special extended family, Sammy Jean Bradley and Mary Beasley; special friends, Betty Sue Johnson, Betty Wagoner, Margaret Smith, Sandra Stone, Elvie Holder, and Debbie Wilmoth; and special caregivers, Judy Draughn, Kim Morgan, Remy Lugo, and Amy Coalson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Nowlin was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Joe Nowlin; and three sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Lou Belton, Eva Joy and Don Tickle, Adele and Bill Myers, and Carlos Surratt. A service of worship and celebration of Evelyn’s life will be held Saturday, June 3, 2017, at 1:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Alex L. Martin officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM at the church. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
