Evelyn Sheets

On Friday, January 18, 2008 Evelyn Sheets went to her heavenly home after a strong battle with cancer.
She was a loving wife and dear companion to Okey Sheets for over 25 Years, who fondly gave her the nickname "Button".
She was an awesome mother to her son and "daughter" Tim and Vicki Carpenter and their two daughters Courtney and Morgan of Winston Salem, NC.
Evelyn is also survived by her stepson and wife Jerry and Linda Sheets, of Mt. Airy, two stepdaughters and husband Dianna and Mike Forrest of Wytheville, VA and Peggy and Gary Wilmoth of Dobson. she had 10 step grandchildren and 16 step great grandchildren who dearly loved her.
She will be greatly missed by Elaine Snow her sister-in-law, Evelyn had four nieces and two nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was employed at Brays Recapping as a secretary for 20+ Years. There she made many wonderful friends especially Gail Hiatt.
Over the years Okey and Evelyn traveled all over the United States and beyond. They shared a house at Myrtle Beach where many happy memories were made.
She was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church where she has many dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents James Morgan and Florrie Snow, step mother Flossie Snow, her dear brother James M. Snow, (Jr.) and her first husband Bill Carpenter.
Funeral services will be held Monday January 21, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Mount Carmel Baptist Church with services conducted by Dr. James Joseph with burial to follow in the Skyline Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends Sunday night 6 to 9 P.M. at the Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.
