Everette Howard (Tom) Edwards

Mr. Everette Howard (Tom) Edwards age 73 of 178 Hickory Hill Drive, Mount Airy, husband of Ethelene A. Edwards, passed away at his home on Sunday, August 12, 2007 surrounded by his family. Mr. Edwards was born in Surry County on December 9, 1933 son of the late Howard Handy Edwards and Clemmie Pruitt Edwards. He was retired from Inman Electric Company where he was a devoted employee for 40 years. He was a man of great skill who could do anything with his hands. He loved his home, family and nature. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor. Mr. Edwards was of the Methodist faith. Surviving are his wife, Ethelene A. Edwards of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Mitzi and David Dease of Winston-Salem; one son, Mark Edwards of Chapel Hill; two grandchildren, Zachary Dease of Boone and Tyler Dease of Winston-Salem; two step grandchildren, Jennifer Dease and Adam Dease both of Charleston, SC; adopted granddaughter, Valerie Parker of Mount Airy; two sisters, Ruth Glass and Lena Childress both of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by a sister, Katie Cooke. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at 3:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel. The service will be conducted by Dr. Steve Lindsley and members of the family with burial to follow in the Indian Grove Community Cemetery. No formal visitation will be held at the funeral home, but the family will receive friends at the home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Barium Springs Home for Children, PO Box 1, Barium Springs, NC 28010. The Edwards family wishes to thank everyone who stood by Tom during his illness. Your outpouring of love, prayers and kind deeds made Tom's long journey easier to travel.
