Mrs. Fannie Adletha Lowe Hawks Ramey, 94, of 285 Bluemont Road, Mount Airy, passed away Sunday evening, April 25, 2010, at Central Continuing Care. Mrs. Ramey was born June 29, 1915, in Surry County, daughter of the late Charlie Stewart and Donnie Estella Snow Lowe. Fannie was a homemaker and a member of the Primitive Baptist faith. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda and Marvin Beasley and Judy and Jerry Lowe, all of Mount Airy; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Danny Hawks, Grey Lynn and Michael Holbrook, Stewart Hawks, Haley and Jason Cassell, Karen and Kent Moser, Chad and Mary Beth Beasley, Jason and Dawn Beasley, Rhonda and Brad Barfield, and Patty and Danny Creed; eighteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Lowe of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ramey was preceded in death by her first husband, Elmer Hawks; her second husband, Ford Ramey; a son and daughter-in-law, Billy Gray and Barbara Hawks; a grandson, Chuck Hull; three sisters, Annie Bryant, Eleanor Coalson, and Mary Faulkner; and a brother, Lawrence Lowe. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Lester Ray Bryant and the Rev. David Burgess officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery in Lowgap. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home, and other times at the home of Glenda and Marvin Beasley, 299 Bluemont Road, Mount Airy. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Central Continuing Care, especially the 300 hall employees, for the love, care, and compassion shown to Fannie during her illness. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Activities Department at Central Continuing Care, 1287 Newsome Street, Mount Airy, NC 27030, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
