Farron Dean Palmer, 61, of Westfield, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 26, 2021, in Winston-Salem, in the loving presence of his wife and children. Born June 2, 1960, in Pilot Mountain to Bobby & Jewell Palmer, Dean met his sweetheart Sheila in 1976, with whom he would go on to share a rich, blissful, lifelong marriage for 39 years. In addition to his accounting work at Johnson Granite Incorporated, Dean’s 20 years of tireless journalism for The Pilot & Mt. Airy News provided a vital voice to the Pilot Mountain community. His commitment to providing spiritual leadership touched countless lives, particularly youth, throughout his years. He recently put that commitment to work by helping found Resurrection Church in Mt. Airy. From Dean’s heart flowed an infinite fountain of love for his Savior, his family, his church, the people of his community, the Tarheels, and the Cubs, in exactly that order. His life’s work ensured that the fountain will never run dry. His family finds peace in knowing he’s now enjoying his Cheeseburger in Paradise. Dean’s legacy, memory, and relentless search for the spiciest food ever made will continue to be cherished by his wife, Sheila Bullin Palmer; his daughter, Kellie Beth Palmer, and son, Cory Dean Palmer; his sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Tim Pittman; sister-in-law & brother-in-law Sandy and Jeff Sizemore; parents-in-law James and Doris Bullin; nieces Hannah Pittman and Neely & Natalie Sizemore; great-niece, Liliana Torres; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in passing by his parents, and his nephew, Dakota Pittman. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at 2:00 pm at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy, co-officiated by Pastor Stuart Mauck, Pastor Clark Morgan, and Pastor Dalton Tedder. Friends & family visitation will precede the service on Tuesday from 12:30 until 2:00 pm at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to: Resurrection Church, c / o Alex Tedder, 2139 Elizabeth Drive, Mt. Airy, NC 27030. For those attending the visitation, the family request masks be worn. Online condolences, well wishes, and funny stories about Dean may be left at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
