Fatha Irene Combs Blackburn

Mrs. Fatha Irene Combs Blackburn, 84, of Lambsburg, VA, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2009, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Blackburn was born December 8, 1924, in Forsyth County, to the late Lafayette and Rebbie Spencer Combs. She was a retired textile worker. Surviving are two daughters, Havan Bryant and Sandra Brinkley, both of Lambsburg, VA; a son, Neal Blackburn and his girlfriend, Shelia Huskey, of Lambsburg, VA; three grandchildren, Crystal Sawyers and Kim Blackburn, both of Mount Airy, and Shawna Leonard of Cana, VA; five great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Opal and the Rev. Donald G. Bryant of Lambsburg, VA; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, the Rev. Paul and Shirley Combs of Mount Airy and Eugene and Hazel Combs of Lambsburg, VA. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Blackburn was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Blackburn; a son, Junior Blackburn; a sister, Mae Hawks; a brother, Ted Combs; and a son-in-law, Truman Bryant. The funeral service will be held Thursday, December 3, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Fellowship Tabernacle Church, with the Rev. Michael Combs officiating. Burial will follow in the Chestnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Fellowship Tabernacle Church.
