Fay Gilley Chandler

Mrs. Myron Fay Gilley Chandler, 92, of Mount Airy, went to be with her Lord and Savior from her home early Saturday morning August 20, 2022.  Mrs. Chandler was born in Surry County to the late Andy Alfred Gilley and Amy Pearl Blackburn Gilley.  Fay was a loving, kind soul who loved her family and serving her Lord.  Fay was a faithful and devoted member of Haymore Memorial Baptist Church.  Fay was retired from the Mount Airy City School System as the financial secretary at Tharrington Elementary School and Bannertown Elementary School.  Mrs. Chandler is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Don Edmonds; three grandchildren, Beth and John Cornett, Lynn and Charlie Wilkes, and Karen and Josh Apple; four great-grandchildren, Noah Wilkes, Allison Apple, Micah Apple, and Chandler Wilkes.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Chandler was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Edward Chandler; a daughter, Cheryle Chandler; two great-grandsons, Evan Cornett and Ryan Cornett; and two brothers, Byron Gilley and Ray Gilley (who had passed before Fay was born).  Funeral services for Mrs. Chandler will be held on Friday, August 26, 2022, at 11:00AM at Haymore Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Minix, Rev. Josh Apple, and Rev. Robert McCrary officiating.  Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends on Thursday evening at Moody Funeral Home from 6:00PM until 8:00PM.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Haymore Memorial Baptist Church, PO Box 27, Mount Airy, NC 27030.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Chandler family.
