Fay Bowman Martin

Mrs. Fay Bowman Martin, 81, of 2756 Baltimore Road, Hillsville, VA, passed away Tuesday morning, May 5, 2009, at her home. Mrs. Martin was born June 1, 1927, in Carroll County, VA, to the late Samuel E. and Kizzie Coulson Bowman. She was a member of the New Beginning Baptist Church in Pilot Mountain. She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Louis F. Martin of the home; three daughters and a son-in-law, Lisa and Van Jones and Jane Martin, all of Hillsville, VA, and Janice Martin of Mount Airy; twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law, Edna and Arba Hall of Fancy Gap, VA. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by a son, James Louis Martin; and two brothers, Swanson Bowman and Duel Bowman. The funeral service will be held Friday, May 8, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Joe Lambert, the Rev. Wendell Horton, and the Rev. Emmitt Crotts officiating. Burial will follow in the Skyview Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 7, 2009, from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
