Faye Jean Hemmings Barker

Mrs. Faye Jean Hemmings Barker, 78 of Pilot Mountain, passed away Saturday December 17, 2016 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Barker was born on May 28, 1938 in Surry County to the late Rev. James Ray Hemmings and Vannie Kathleen Short Hemmings. Mrs. Barker was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed by all that knew her. Mrs. Barker is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Donna Lynn Flippin and Jeff of Pilot Mountain; her son, Anthony “Tony” Ray Barker of the home; grandchildren, Maria Johnson Watson and Josh of Mount Airy, Sarah Johnson Hicks and Garry of Pilot Mountain, Jacob Cody Flippin of Pilot Mountain, and Courtney Barker Bledsoe and Zach of Thomasville; six great-grandchildren, Tristian Williams, Rylan Watson, Hayston Watson, Kylie Bledsoe, Adelyn Hicks, and Zyler Hicks; one sister and brother-in-law, Sue Young and Kenneth of Mount Airy; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald Ray Hemmings and Lou; Douglas Hemmings and Sylvia, all of Mount Airy, John Hemmings and Betsy of Conover, NC, and Jerry Hemmings and Marnie of Brandon Manitoba, Canada; a brother-in-law, Tommy Barker of Mount Airy; several special nieces and nephews; and special friends, Terry and Connie Freeman of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barker was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Franklin Barker; a sister, Margaret H. Stone; a brother, Jimmy Hemmings, and an infant brother, Charles Allen Hemmings. Graveside services will be held at Skyline Memory Garden on Tuesday December 20, 2016 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Kenneth Young officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the time of the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy and at other times at the home of Maria Watson, 166 Town Lane, Mount Airy, NC 27030. In lieu of food and flowers, memorials may be made to, Gospel Mission Baptist Church, 1046 Linville Rd., Mount Airy, NC 27030 and Mountain Valley Hospice, 401 Technology Lane Suite 200, Mount Airy, North Carolina 27030.
