Faye Rippey

Mrs. Faye Hawks Rippey, 78, of Mt. Airy passed away Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Commonwealth Senior Living in Radford, VA.  She was born in Carroll County, VA May 8, 1941 to the late Albert Fred Hawks and Virginia Faye Edwards Hawks.  Mrs. Rippey was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend always greeting you with her warm smile.  She retired from the Surry County School System and was a member of Shining Light Baptist Church.  Mrs. Rippey will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Kimberly Handy and Cheryl Brewer and fiancé Dan Messer; her grandchildren and spouses, Tyler and Alex Pruitt, Corey and Alisha Holder, and Alex Brewer; great-grandchildren, Kennedi , Kali, Harper Pruitt; a sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Ralph Holder; and a brother Bobby Hawks.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rippey was preceded in death by her husband Arles Rippey; and brothers, Fred and Mack Hawks.  Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, August 11, 2019 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Elmo Hiatt officiating.  Burial will follow at Chestnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Lambsburg.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2:30 PM until the time of the service.  The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the staff of the Commonwealth Senior Living for the wonderful care their mother was given during her illness.  Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
