Felin Painter

Mr. Felin Painter, 89, of 2502 Pilot View Drive, Hillsville, VA, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2009, at his home. Mr. Painter was born October 15, 1919, in Carroll County, VA, to the late John Henderson and Amy Bowman Painter. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II, and a retired farmer. Felin attended Puckett Memorial Primitive Baptist Church. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Eldon and Sharon Painter of Hillsville, VA; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Tommy Shepherd of Stuart, VA; six grandchildren and their spouses, David Painter of Hillsville, VA, Robbie and Chelsea Painter of Laurel Fork, VA, Charles and Stacey Shepherd of Claudville, VA, Matthew and Emily Shepherd of Apex, Angela and Eddie Williams of Martinsville, VA, and John Foster of Stuart, VA; and three great-grandchildren, D.J. Painter of Hillsville, VA, Kaden Shepherd of Claudville, VA, and Isaac Williams of Martinsville, VA. In addition to his parents, Mr. Painter was preceded in death by his wife, Glaspa Quesinberry Painter; a daughter, Linda Kaye Painter; and a brother, Walker Painter. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at 11:00 AM at Bell Spur Primitive Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tommy Shepherd and Elder Melvin McGrady officiating. Burial will follow in the Painter Family Cemetery, with full military rites conducted by the Hillsville VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post 1115. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Bell Spur Primitive Baptist Church. Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy is serving the Painter family.
