Flora Mae Hawks Martin

Mrs. Flora Mae Hawks Martin, 84, of 341 Oak Ridge Road, Cana, VA, passed away Saturday, November 8, 2008, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Martin was born October 5, 1924, in Carroll County, VA, to the late William Columbus and Mattie Leona Davis Hawks. She retired from Spencer's Inc. and was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by her husband, Willie A. Martin of the home; a son, Willie Junior Martin of Cana, VA; a granddaughter, Amy Martin and fiance, Ross Inman, both of Mount Airy; two grandsons and a spouse, Clyde Andrew and Lydia Martin and Dean Junior Martin, all of Cana, VA; two great-grandchildren, Keenan Gaddy and Hailey Martin; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Ruby and James Blakley of Clemmons, Lou Leonard of Cana, VA, and Julie and Henry White of Winston-Salem; and two brothers, James "Jim" Hawks and fiancee, Janie McMillian, and Gurnie Hawks, all of Cana, VA. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Edna Lee Bryant Martin; a sister, Myrtle H. Head; and a brother, Jay Hawks. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 11, 2008, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. David "Buster" Sechrist, the Rev. Russell Vass, and the Rev. Roland McCraw, and burial will follow in the Cana Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home.
