Florence Robena Jarvis

Mrs. Florence Robena Jarvis, 90, of 106 Grant Street Dobson passed away peacefully on Saturday December 13, 2008 at Northern Surry Hospital, Mount Airy, NC surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Iredell County the daughter of the late Fred and Lottie Summers Hall. She was faithful member of Edward Webb Presbyterian Church of Mount Airy. Robena, as everyone knew her, was a pillar of the Dobson community and was loved by so many and touched the heart of everyone she met and knew. Robena was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and was the entire family's confidant and advisor. Robena was preceded in death by three sisters, Lucille Morrison, Frances Houston and Mae Helen Templeton of Statesville; two brothers, James Hall of Statesville and Robert Hall of Ashville; her husband Charlie Jarvis, Jr. of sixty nine years; one daughter Kathryn Joyce Penn; two sons, Charles D and Donnie L. Jarvis and a great granddaughter Nicole Green. Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Doris E. Green of Forestville, MD and Shelia Jarvis of Charlotte; a grandson (adopted son) Sanchez D. Jarvis of the home; one aunt, Velva Green ,age 103, of Statesville; three sisters, Geneva Clark (Eugene),Melzetta Heaggans (John) both of Statesville and Mildred Tenor of Forestville, MD one daughter-in-law, Virginia Jarvis ; one sister-in-law Maybelle Davis of Gaithersburg, MD; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great and great-great grandchildren; a special childhood friend, Gertie M. Scott of Statesville and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Friday December 19, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Mount Airy, 326 South Main Street. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 1:00 PM until time of the service.
