Florence Louise Littell, 89, of Dobson, North Carolina, passed away at 5:32 a.m. on Friday, January 8, 2021, at Chatham Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Born August 20, 1931, in Seymour, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Mearl and Janie (Parker) Sweany. She married Charles Littell on December 24, 1950 in Hazelwood; he preceded her in death on June 4, 2013.
Florence was a 1949 graduate of Shields High School and 1954 graduate of Minneapolis General Hospital Nursing School. She graduated from Indiana University in 1963 with her bachelor’s degree and from the University of Cincinnati in 1968 with her master’s degree. Florence worked for Ambassadors for Christ Ministry and as a missionary in the Philippines for 30 years. She was a member of Double Creek Church of Christ in Dobson, North Carolina, and a former member of Reddington Christian Church in Reddington. Florence enjoyed gardening and being outdoors.
Survivors include her sons, Timothy (Nina) Littell of Bonita, California, and Stephen (Kathy) Littell of Corsicana, Texas; daughter-in-law, Peggy Littell of Dobson, North Carolina; sister, Dorothy (Herb) Williams of North Vernon; grandchildren, Amber Bostic of Cincinnati, Ohio, April (Tom) Roberts of Curtis, Nebraska, Adam (Missy) Littell of Stow, Ohio, Shannon (Jon) Byers of Boston, Massachusetts, Michael Littell of Waxahachie, Texas, David Littell of Texas, Vincent (Valerie), Larry (Veronica), and Robert Pasada, all of San Diego, California, Ben (Jenna) Littell of Clemmons, North Carolina, and Aaron (Angela) Littell of Hudson, North Carolina; and several great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Matt Littell; brother, Francis Sweany; and sisters, Mary Luenbrink, Mabel Shake, and Margery Adams.
A graveside service for Florence will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at Reddington Church Cemetery in Reddington. Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service was entrusted with the arrangements.
Memorials may be made in memory of Florence through the funeral home for Ambassadors for Christ.
