Flossie Mae Brooks Edwards

Mrs. Flossie Mae Brooks Edwards, 84, of 131 Wildcat Trail, Mount Airy, passed away Friday, August 11, 2006, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Edwards was born December 5, 1921, in Surry County, to the late Matthew Alexander and Frances Elizabeth Delana Whittington Brooks. She was retired from Bassett Furniture Company and a member of Joylight Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Evelyn Frances Edwards Newman and Carolyn Ruth Edwards Boyd, both of Mount Airy; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Carl McKinley Edwards of Mount Airy and Jerry Franklin and Teresa Edwards of Ararat; nine grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her husband, William McKinley "Ken" Edwards; a sister, Bertha Brooks Leonard; and a brother, Ervin Brooks. The funeral service will be held Sunday August 13, 2006, at 5:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by Brother C. Wayne Jones. Burial will follow in the Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, and other times at the home of Evelyn Frances Edwards Newman, 619 Haystack Road, Mount Airy.
