Flossie Chappell Cline Goings

Mrs. Flossie Chappell Cline Goings, 82, of Cana, VA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 17, 2010, at Springwood Care Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Goings was born October 6, 1927, in Patrick County, VA, to James Walter and Susie Arneda Weddle Chappell. She was a member of Mount Bethel Moravian Church. She was a retired certified nursing assistant, having worked in various facilities in Winston-Salem and Mount Airy. She spent many years operating Wildwood Farms, selling plants and fresh produce at the Winston-Salem City Market with her loving husband, Paul L. Goings, Sr., who predeceased her in March of 2008, and for the last several years she cared for her mother in her home in Cana, VA. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Goings was also preceded in death by a son, James Raymond Cline. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan Cline Furches and Richard of Winston-Salem and Margaret Jean Brewster and Irvin of Tequesta, FL; a son, Fredrick G. Cline of Atlanta, GA; a daughter-in-law, Debora H. Cline of Winston-Salem; a step-daughter and son-in-law, Glenda Gail Adams and Bill of Forsyth, GA; a step-son and daughter-in-law, Paul L. Goings, Jr. and Elizabeth of Trinity; ten grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Elizabeth Chappell Smith of Galax, VA. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 21, 2010, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Charles Fishel officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Bethel Moravian Church Graveyard. The family will receive friends Thursday from 12:00 noon until the time of the service at the funeral home.
