Mr. Floyd Swanson George, 80, of 224 Winesap Lane, Mount Airy, passed away Friday, December 1, 2006, at Central Continuing Care. Mr. George was born April 18, 1926, in Stokes County, to the late Fletcher Reid and Georgia Ann Owens George. He served our country in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. George was a retired carpenter and a member of Charity Baptist Church. He is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Ted Marshall of Mount Airy; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy and Lula George and Brooks and Ila Mae George, all of Mount Airy; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Brenda and Ray Bowman of Mount Airy; and a special cousin, Mary Beasley of Westfield. In addition to his parents, Mr. George was preceded in death by five sisters, Lucille Vaden, Helen Woods, Frances Carson, Lolene Jackson, and Erna Rogers; and three brothers, Glenn George, Enas George, and Coy George. The funeral service will be held Monday, December 4, 2006, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Ronnie Chamblin, Sr., the Rev. Hank Robertson, and Chaplain Jennifer Bracey. Burial will follow in the Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, with full military rites conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post 2019 of Mount Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Barbara Wright, 3660 Horseshoe Road, Westfield, NC 27053.
